Sustainability

Sustainable Agriculture

Sustainability is at the centre of everything we do on our farm. We maximise the use of resources and minimise waste through efficient recycling management. We use only renewable energy for heating, actively contributing to environmental protection. This commitment to sustainable practices extends to all areas of our farm life and is reflected in many other initiatives.

Natural resources for hot water

We rely on the use of natural resources to heat our water: by combining wood heating and solar panels, we ensure a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy supply. These methods allow us to meet our heating needs efficiently while minimising our ecological footprint.

Biological circular economy

We practise an organic circular economy on our farm: our animals are fed with hay from our fields without buying in any additional hay. We only use the manure from our animals as fertiliser, without resorting to mineral fertilisers. We also have our own forest with timber rights so that we can cut the firewood we need ourselves. In this way, we close the cycle and minimise our impact on the environment.

Suckler cow husbandry with plenty of space

We practise suckler cow husbandry on our farm, which means that the calves can stay with their mothers. In addition, our cows enjoy plenty of exercise as they graze on our Alpine foothills and mountain pastures in spring, summer and autumn. This traditional practice promotes the well-being of our animals and allows them to move freely and express their natural behaviour.

Vegetables from your own garden

We attach great importance to growing as much as possible in our own garden and fields. The produce we grow includes lettuce, carrots, kohlrabi, radishes, rhubarb, peppers, courgettes, pumpkins, potatoes, currants, strawberries and a variety of herbs. This sustainable cultivation method enables us to guarantee fresh, high-quality produce and contribute to self-sufficiency.

Farm products for personal use

In addition to the delicacies from the garden, we also have a variety of home-made products for our own use on our farm. Our meat comes from animals reared on our farm. Occasionally we slaughter a bull or a pig in our own slaughterhouse on the farm and process the meat there into various products such as sausages, schnitzel and minced meat. In this way, we avoid transport routes and stress for the animals. We also always have fresh eggs from our organic chickens, which are kept on our farm. All our farm products stand for quality and freshness and are also offered for sale.

We are committed to minimising our environmental footprint by implementing sustainable practices on our farm. However, we recognise that there are many aspects of farming that are sometimes difficult to fully reconcile with sustainable practices. Despite our efforts to be environmentally conscious and conserve resources, we recognise that certain agricultural processes and requirements can present particular challenges. Our ongoing objective is therefore to develop innovative solutions and continuously seek more environmentally friendly approaches in order to make a positive contribution to the preservation of our environment.
